Dr. Randy Liefer
An Associate Fellow of AIAA with over 26 years of aerospace engineering experience. He has earned advanced degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Kansas, served as Division Chief and Deputy Head of the Department of Astronautics at the. U.S. Air Force Academy, and served on the AIAA Space Systems Technical Committee. He has served as lecturer and primary design coach for the SpaceTech Masters Program at the Delft Technical University in the Netherlands.
Dr. Jerry Jon Sellers
Author of Understanding Space: An Introduction to Astronautics, was the director of the U.S. Air Force Academy"s Space Systems Research Center. He has over 21 years of space systems experience including Guidance & On-board Navigation Officer in Space Shuttle Mission Control; Assistant Professor of Astronautics at the U.S. Air Force Academy; and Chief of Astronautics for the Air Force European Office of Aerospace Research & Development. He earned his doctorate at the University of Surrey, UK.
Dr. Peter Swan
An AIAA Fellow with over 37 years experience in both government and commercial space systems. He is a co-author of Global Mobile Satellite Systems and Impact of Space Activities upon Society. He is a former faculty member at the U.S. Air Force Academy, spent 8 years at the USAF Space Division in Los Angeles as a spacecraft systems engineer and program manager, and worked with the Motorola space divisions for 10 years. He is a past member of the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board, a current member of the Army Science Board, an elected member of the International Academy of Astronautics, and an active player on Commission VI, Space and Society: Culture and Education. He earned his doctorate from University of California at Los Angeles.
Dr. Peter Van Wirt
A former Deputy Department Head for Labs and Research of the Department of Astronautics at the U.S. Air Force Academy. He served as a guidance system engineer on the Peacekeeper Missile System development and as a program manager at Eglin Air Force Base. Peter has over 21 years of aerospace engineering experience and over 10 years teaching experience. He is a graduate of the Defense Systems Management College"s Advanced Program Managers Course and coaches graduate students" Central Case Project for TU Delft. He earned his doctorate at the Utah State University.
Dr. Wiley Larson
Managing editor of McGraw-Hill"s Space Technology Series and editor and coauthor of Space Mission Analysis and Design and eight other reference books on space systems. He is also a director of SpaceTech"s Masters Program in Space Systems Engineering at Delft Technical University in The Netherlands. He has served as Head of Engineering at the International Space University in Strasbourg, France, and has over 28 years experience in space launch, satellite integration and test, and space mission design. He has consulted with numerous government and industry organizations and taught thousands of people around the world. He earned his doctorate at the University of Colorado.
Dr Mike DeLorenzo
BGen, USAF (ret.) is Professor Emeritus at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) and former head of the USAFA Department of Astronautics with over 31 years of research and development experience in astronautical engineering. He has served in numerous Air Force science and engineering leadership positions to include the Vice Commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory, headquartered at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. His doctoral research was conducted at Purdue University and specialized in the control of large flexible spacecraft.
